Depot goes digital
The Horta bus depot in barcelona, which covers 74,000m2 and provides 300 buses each day, has upgraded to an intelligent networked surveillance system.
The system is controlled by Sony’s RealShot Manager software, with a client/server architecture via an IP network. The installation consists mostly of Sony SNC-RZ30P cameras which are programmed to tour the premises, with other fixed cameras at specific sites.
“Digital systems have the advantage that they can make cameras very smart,” comments Victor Riberam, head of communications systems at Transports Metropolitan de Barcelona.
The network supporting the system is an isolated VLAN system, to prevent unauthorised users from accessing images.
“The system we have installed has absolutely nothing in common with the previous one,” comments Miguel Angel Fernandez, head of material and installations at the Horta operations centre. “Before there were analogue camera recordings…now we’ve got an intelligent digital system offering a series of services so flexible that it means we can continue to grow in the future.”
