State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

All seeing eyes

Easy as CBC

CBC has launched C-AllView, a new range of high speed, day/night PTZ cameras for harsh and challenging environments, available in either matte black or cream.

The ruggedised model is sealed to IP67, making it suitable for external applications where physical abuse and extreme environmental conditions are likely. It features optically flat glass which is distortion-free, giving brighter, clearer images at higher zoom ranges. CBC says this allows system designers more flexibility in positioning cameras in adverse conditions.

It is cast from aluminium, hard anodised and powder-coated to ensure protection from scratching, oxidisation and attack from solvents. The replaceable front glass window is also toughened and features a wiper to clear dirt and water. The model is designed to withstand substantial impacts from thrown objects and is resistant to ballistic attack.

Easy set-up

Last month we tested Sanyo’s VDC-P7575PA fixed mini-dome camera. This is what we said:

“We are still not quite sure about the motion-activated zoom. On the face of it, it seems like a good idea, but it has one potentially serious flaw. The zoom is triggered by any of the 16 targets, but only the central area of the image is magnified. In other words, if something on the edge of the scene sets it off, whatever or whoever it was will disappear from view as the camera zooms in, and if the delay time is set to a high value, it could be a while before the camera resets itself.

“Sanyo has also limited the usefulness of the motion sensor by not providing any sort of output function. When the motion sensor is triggered, or the camera receives an external alarm input, all that happens is the camera title flashes for a preset period. It appears that everything needed to provide an alarm output is in place (relay, connections etc.); all it needs is to be implemented.

“Apart from that the camera performs more or less up to expectations. It’s easy to set up (with the remote handset) and the exposure system is flexible and simple to configure. Providing you are not expecting anything special in terms of low light capabilities and take care over its location, then the VDC-P7575PA passes muster as a very decent general purpose, compact fixed dome.”

Get a PIX fix

Dallmeier’s Cam_inPIX range of dome cameras is comprised of three models: an analogue colour minidome (DDF3000A), a vandal-resistant analogue colour minidome (DDF3000AV), and vandal-resistant IP colour day/night dome (DDF3000IPV-DN).

Cam_inPIX technology converts the picture information of each individual pixel digitally at the point of capture, and processes it in the most optimal way. This allows scenes with a great range in contrast to be recorded and documented at previously unseen picture qualities, according to Dallmeier.

It claims the domes are able to produce ‘outstanding’ results when monitoring foyers with glass facades, even during strong sunlight.

In the picture

The DH2200 surveillance system from TX Immersive is a mobile camera unit with 11 lenses that allows the viewer to experience all angles at all times.

It captures high quality ‘spherical video’, meaning almost nothing is hidden from the camera. Users can interrogate recorded video using a dedicated headset or on screen, allowing them to look around almost the entire scene.

The company is already involved in using the camera for mobile and entertainment use, and in security it is looking at applications including mobile, event security and police crowd surveillance. Other uses could include creating a ‘real-life’ record for local authority use, or making a record of property etc for insurance purposes.

It can transmit 30fps at full resolution over an Ethernet connection, and can connect directly to a PC for data acquisition, video viewing and stitching, and camera control.
