Geoquip’s portable solutions
Geoquip have long worked with permanent perimeter solutions, but their subsidiary Sensor is now specialising in instant and portable solutions. Sensor already has a long line of lucrative clients, and it’s soon clear why.
Sensor’s core product range uses PIR sensors to detect heat and movement in a certain area, inside or outside. With the ability to work around the clock, Sensor believe their products are ‘proved in action, from the boardroom to the battlefield’.
Sentor, the company’s stand-alone intruder detection system, was likened to Star Wars’ R2D2 by one passer-by, and it does look space age. Twin passive infra-red detection heads give the device a detection range of 20, 30 or 40 metres (user defined), and the portable system can be quickly deployed anywhere.
Sentor is flexible and can be linked to existing security systems such as security lighting and CCTV. When the 127cm-high unit detects an intrusion, it uses radio or GSM technology to transmit messages to the user. According to the company’s promotional material, Sentor has been especially designed for the non-technical user.
The ‘Annunciator Unit’ provides a remote link from one or more Sentor devices in the field to the control room, and bespoke mapping software displays information and parameters for each unit being used.
The angle of the top PIR can be manually changed through 360 degrees allowing users to choose the most suitable set-up for any given day. If using a radio link, the devices can be used up to five miles from the unit; with GSM, they can be used anywhere.
Part of the Sentor’s appeal lies in the fact that the user can set unique voice messages based on what they want to know. For example, if the Sentor was placed outside on a driveway, it could send a unique message to the user to let them know a car had pulled up.
The Sentor, along with Sensor’s other products, has attracted a range of diverse clients. The dressing rooms at Wimbledon, the MoD, and the Grand National are all loyal customers.
