Marmitek claims the product will show homeowners who has visited while they were out or asleep, providing legitimate evidence in the event of a break-in, for example. Photos taken by the camera are stored on a standard SD card and can be viewed instantly on a TV or PC.
The SD Memorycam2 can be set up to take photos following motion detection and by external triggers like an opening door. Claimed to be easy to install, the camera can be placed on driveways, in doorways or even used by businesses in cash rooms.
As many as 24,000 pictures can be saved using a 2gb SD card. These are not stored in the camera itself but instead they are sent to a separate unit that can be locked away.
The colour camera – with five infrared LEDs – aims to provide a clear image when the subject is between 1.5 and 2 metres away in complete darkness. An intelligent learning mode should prevent the SD Memorycam2 from recording images of repeated motion like a tree blowing in the wind, for example.
