Security manager (contract)
William Bolingford began his career with Wilson James as a security officer on the BBC contract five years ago. Within six months he was promoted to leading officer (with responsibility for a 12-strong officer team) and received a Customer Service Champion Award. Following another promotion, this time to security manager, William has gained an enviable reputation and has recently taken up a key role on the prestigious BP contract. William is a core member of the Wilson James Best Practice Working Group and, at all times, continues to lead from the front – both by example and deed.
Runners-Up
Lee Ennis
(Advance Security)
Lee Ennis is the account manager in charge of Advance Security’s national security guarding contract for client the Littlewoods Shop Direct Group. With only a six-week implementation period, Lee co-ordinated a project team to successfully transfer more than 150 personnel into Advance (with the majority requiring additional training to exceed client expectations). Lee has also completed bespoke risk assessments and site surveys at numerous locations and recruited a substantial team of relief personnel. The largest part of the contract involves a 70-strong team at one specific location. Having recognised the limitations of the previous operation, Lee restructured the team – introducing dedicated Control Room personnel and new shifts.
Dennis Gotts
(G4S Security Services UK)
Director of security for the Land Securities Group but employed by G4S Security Services (UK), Dennis Gotts is in charge of a GB pound 100 million security portfolio – the largest outsourced security contract in the UK – encompassing Land Securities Trillium (LST), the retail portfolio, its London office portfolio and operations. On the LST contract, Dennis has implemented the Automated Electronic Guarding Initiative, which now provides 120,000 users at 700 offices with an integrated access control/intruder alarm solution. Denis was also instrumental in the implementation of the Service Representative (SR) Initiative, a concept which enables LST to provide an enhanced service by using resident SRs (up-skilled existing employees) as the focal point across all service partners. Dennis and his team train SRs for other LST suppliers, as well.
Eddie Widnall
(MITIE Security)
As security manager for the Portsmouth City Council CCTV Control Room, Eddie Widnall ensures that its day-to-day operations are undertaken in accordance with the PCC CCTV Code of Practice. He devises all on-site training programmes and manuals, delivers CCTV awareness training for Council employees, develops spreadsheet programs to monitor camera use and represents the City Council at the Hampshire CCTV User Group. Above all, Eddie leads by example, sharing his experience and Best Practice. Delegation is key, and Eddie has succeeded in building a competent team that shares responsibility and takes ownership of tasks that fall outside of individual role remits. In Eddie’s absence, team members are trained to release evidential data if necessary in order to avoid any delay in passing across CCTV footage to the police service.
