Law firm upgrades to web-based email

Charles Russell upgraded to the Mimecast system, which secures and stores files for ten years, to provide a continuous service to customers and lawyers if servers failed.

The company’s IT department wanted to outsource responsibility for email archival and cut the amount of time spent managing email quarantines. In order to ensure compliance, the firm has to record all communications for a rolling ten-year period.

Jon Gould, IT director at Charles Russell, said trying to anticipate the email storage requirements for the next decade proved virtually impossible.

“Mimecast has a great track record in the legal market place and showed us users could access and retrieve archived emails as easily from their service as with a locally based system.

“This, combined with cost savings from moving to an annual per user-based model, convinced us to make the move.”

Gould said that for law firms, the ability to provide an uninterrupted email service at all times was a key benefit.

“We feel confident that Mimecast’s on-demand email model will enable us to fulfil our promise of excellent service to both our customers and the staff in a cost-effective and efficient way,” he added.
