World’s largest casino bets on face readers
Thirteen of Bioscrypt’s VisionAccess 3D face readers were installed at the front entrance of The Venetian Macao in China, and are now used to filter each worker through the turnstiles in less than a second.
Each employee is required to carry a smartcard that instantly calls up a stored biometric template when presented at the turnstiles. The 3D readers then project a near-infrared ‘net’ onto the user’s face and a camera captures the distortions created by each person’s features.
Access is then approved or denied based on stored records and the time of each verification is also instantly transmitted to a central office for managers’ records.
The readers, which have been integrated with turnstiles that aim to prevent tailgating, feature software that can be used by both Chinese and English users.
The Venetian Macao is the largest building in Asia and the second largest in the world. It houses a 15,000-seater stadium, 350 shops and 3,000 rooms.
