The forum brings together the governments of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and United States. The meeting took place in the Baltic resort of Heiligendamm, near Hamburg, and Siemens Building Technologies installed 11 daylight cameras mounted on pan/tilt mechanisms, 22 FLIR SR-35 thermal imaging cameras and eight mobile FLIR FlashSight thermal imaging cameras to secure the site. SBT also installed over 3.2km of sensor wires in an adjacent forest.
The SR-35 thermal imaging cameras were installed along the exterior security fence, making sure that no one could approach the fence or climb it. They were placed at 400m intervals. The FlashSight handheld thermal cameras were carried by police when they were patrolling the fence or other secured areas.
