State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

BSIA publishes vacant property protection Code of Practice

“It’s important for customers to use quality suppliers and products,” commented BSIA Physical Security Equipment Section chairman, Clive Baker. “The production of a Code of Practice provides further assurance to customers that BSIA member companies are committed to maintaining high standards. At any one time there are a considerable number of vacant properties throughout the country and, without adequate protection, these premises can be subject to misuse. The provision of good physical security can help minimise and often prevent misuse of and damage to these properties.”

The Code of Practice covers the Customer Charter and provides recommendations for the property inspection, and installation, maintenance and removal of window and door protective systems.

The BSIA Physical Security Equipment Section consists of companies who provide expert security advice, quality products and services and who conform to all relevant standards and codes of practice. The Section works to place emphasis on the value of products tested and certified as conforming to market-recognised standards over non-compliant products.
