35 years of IFSEC

Marking 35 years of security innovation, IFSEC kicks off its anniversary celebrations on 12 May 2008. Over the last three and a half decades, the show has been the international launch pad for countless new companies, technologies and careers.

Each year, the NEC is overtaken by over 800 companies, some with double or triple-decker stands, covering over 47,000sq m – that’s bigger than 11 full size football pitches!

The 35th anniversary celebrations will be no different and visitors will see a few new features, including a brand new high-level conference and two new product areas. Also this year, to highlight IFSEC’s commitment to environmental issues, the show will be the most environmentally friendly yet.

BSIA chief executive David Dickinson says:

“In its 35 years, IFSEC has become an integral part of the security industry’s calendar. It has offered the opportunity for security companies to showcase the very best it has to offer – exciting new technologies, innovative products, and recently, the very best in security guarding services.

“The BSIA has been involved with IFSEC for some 20 years and is extremely proud of its role as an official partner. It has allowed us to raise the profile of our membership considerably and to provide information and guidance to the many IFSEC visitors that attend the event.

“Our International Visitors stand, organised in liaison with UK Trade & Investment, has been particularly successful, having hosted 7200 overseas buyers over the 10 years we have been organising it, from countries as diverse as Bulgaria, Canada, Libya and Mexico, to name but a few. I look forward to another successful 35 years of IFSEC.”
