AMS reveals MAP

The MAP is a deceptively simple product. AMS director Trevor Leisk describes it as “a new way to think about secure access hatches”. It features a sleek flush finish, concealed fixing and a hatch gap of just 0.3mm – as small as a laser cutter, and designed to prevent even the smallest of covert cameras from gaining access to top secret applications.

An important feature of the MAP, particularly for installers working on ladders for roof hatches, is its balanced gas struts to support the door. This prevents it from swinging loose, potentially smashing an innocent, unaware installer flush on his unprotected head area, and knocking him unconscious onto the floor.

It’s Leisk’s installation background that meant simple innovations such as this were incorporated into the design.

The MAP also includes an AMS MSB62-10 microswitch box, which can indicate to security officers not only that the hatch is closed, but that it is also securely locked. An alarm will sound and will be visible if the MAP is opened when unauthorized.

It can be mounted on walls and floors, as well as ceilings, and will be available in the UK through Pickersgill-Kaye.
