Siemens Building Technologies combined access control with the management of heating and lighting using its Siemens SiPass and Synco programmes.
The system operates across a series of gymnasia in the Dutch city, with SiPass granting access to users for agreed time slots. SiPass informs the Synco systems to automatically switch the HVAC and lighting on and off accordingly, resulting in energy savings of approximately 20 per cent.
Siemens says SiPass is increasingly being integrated with other security products and systems. At IFSEC 2008, the newest version of the SiPass Entro system was demonstrated, showing the capacity for DVR integration without the need for an additional PC.
