BSI conference focuses on risk management
In today’s world, managing risk has become a necessity, not an option. From global financial shocks through to an increased awareness of sustainability issues, the demands made on businesses are changing rapidly, both externally and from within organisations themselves.
Risk management is crucial to all businesses, regardless of the sector in which they operate. For those businesses working in more than one sector, managing risk takes on even greater significance. With this in mind, BSI British Standards – developer of the first national standard on risk management – is taking bookings for its conference to introduce the new standard BS 31100: Code of Practice for Risk Management. The event takes place on 22-23 October at the America Square Conference Centre in London.
Given the growing focus on corporate governance and security, and with the economic climate demanding that businesses review their operations, this conference offers an ideal opportunity to re-assess your risk management strategies and look for new ideas. The conference and accompanying workshop will provide a concise briefing on BS 31100, at the same time showcasing related risk management standards. It has been specifically designed to help security practitioners identify the threats and act on the opportunities that lie ahead.
Format for the conference
There’ll be a comprehensive briefing on the first British Standard on risk management, covering what BS 31100 contains, how it might be applied to end user organisations, how it could help tackle current risk management issues and the benefits BS 31100 offers to the business. Case studies presented by leaders in the risk management field add to the mix. In essence, the conference will allow delegates to benchmark their position across their sector and share problems and solutions. Opportunities will also exist to discuss experiences with experts and to network with peers.
All those with responsibility for overseeing risk management in an organisation or ensuring risks are managed in specific areas or activities of a business will benefit from a thorough understanding of BS 31100. This includes CEOs, CFOs, CROs, CIOs, COOs and CTOs; chairmen and company secretaries; managing, IT and finance directors; risk, insurance, claims and business continuity managers; information security specialists; underwriters; Health and Safety officers and heads of legal affairs.
