Costello unleashed this, his fifth single, in October 1977.
It was one of the very first songs to comment on the practice of using CCTV cameras to assist police in their enquiries, and as such is a perfect fit for this particular weekly feature.
Intriguingly, Costello felt a personal affinity with surveillance cameras thanks to his trademark chunky glasses, which were actually fitted with specially designed zoom lenses, the reasons for which remain unclear.
His real name is Declan McManus.
