I’m obviously going to suggest that Olivia Newton-John’s classic gymnasium and aerobics-themed video is referring to increasing your levels of physical security. Others may believe the song is more prurient in nature. Frankly, that’s none of my business.
This is the sort of music video that, I believe, made Dads (for ON-J) and ladies and gay chaps (for the muscled fellas) and flab appreciators (for the chunkier gents) tune into MTV in their droves in the 1980s. It was certainly popular in Australia – prior to the advent of Kylie Minogue we hadn’t really had a female international superstar, with a penchant for dressing in ridiculous outfits, that we could call our own.
