World’s largest wide-area IP CCTV installed
The plant and 800km gas pipeline is part of the Sakhalin-2 project in Eastern Russia.
More than 600 cameras are being used in “the most demanding” of conditions, monitoring a liquefied natural gas plant and the pipeline.
Fresh from its success in winning two categories of the Security Excellence Awards 2008, the company says the project coincides with its expansion into Europe.
Headquartered in Edinburgh, with offices in other parts of the world, it now has “a strong local presence from Brussels to Siberia”.
It uses a network of approved installation partners.
The manufacturer develops and owns the entire IP solution – from camera to management software.
In 2001 it pioneered IP video by installing what was then the largest system in Europe at Brussels International Airport.
“Seven years on Brussels Airport is benefiting from their early decision to deploy IP video by being able to simply upgrade their system with the latest MPEG-4 product,” says the company.
CEO, Oliver Vellacott, said: “The Sakhalin-2 project is not only a vote of confidence in our technology but also in the European team that’s been behind it.”
Sakhalin 2 is the world’s biggest integrated oil and gas project. It is being built from scratch in the harsh subartic environment of Sakhalin Island in the Russian Far East.
In the Security Excellence Awards 2008, IndigoVision took the awards for Security Manufacturer of the Year and International Achievement of the Year.
