I4S India: IP theft in India is posing a grave problem for the high-tech industry, what’s your take?
India is an emerging market and suffers a huge fluctuation within its workforce. Particularly, the strong economic growth gives people plenty of new job opportunities and often a chance to heavily raise their salaries when changing their jobs. In addition to that, betrayal and stolen intellectual property have become serious concerns for many large organizations- particularly for high-tech industry.
We often receive unsolicited calls with the person on the other end either selling something or the other. If we give a thought to how this is happening, we will understand the serious recuperations of what we call as – Data Leakage.
A person working or having access to a location where legitimate data is stored either shares this data or sells it to someone. From there, it lands up at various locations and we the consumers end up being at the receiving end of such unsolicited calls.
Majority of companies have appointed dedicated resources in the IT Security department. This goes to show the importance of Data Security.
Many incidents of data thefts, cyber crimes, etc. have also been reported in various media. All pointing towards the need for data security in a much more effective manner.
