Showsec triumphs in Total Production International Awards

The prestigious Total Production International Awards are hosted annually to recognise the achievements, talents and successes of individuals and service companies within the live music sector. This year’s ceremony took place at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on 9 February, and was hosted by comedian Phill Jupitus.

In 2008, Showsec strengthened its relationships with many venues across the UK, exclusively securing new sites for the expanding Academy Music Group and other prestigious venues (including the MEN Arena, whose management team collected the Favourite Venue Award on the night).

From Download to Hyde Park

The company was involved with some of last year’s largest music events including the Download Festival for rock and heavy metal fans and the series of events held in London’s Hyde Park, encompassing the 46664 Nelson Mandela charity concert, The O2 Wireless Festival and Hard Rock Calling (which featured KT Tunstall, the amazingly talented Scottish singer-songwriter from St Andrews, as well as The Police on their worldwide farewell tour).

In addition, Showsec provided crowd control solutions and security at music award ceremonies such as The Brits and the MTV Europe Awards. On top of all that, the company has continued to raise standards within the industry through the launch of its totally unique Training Academy, providing a structured career path for associates.

Showsec managers Julian Kumah and Richard Church collected the award from Phill Jupitus.

Recognition from service partners

In conversation with SMT Online, Kumah said: “This is a special award to win as it’s voted for by the industry. To be recognised by our colleagues and service partners is a real honour. We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and, of course, our dedicated teams at every level. It’s undoubtedly their professionalism and commitment that has put us here today.”
