Manchester Security 2009: rising to the challenge
Manchester Security 2009 is designed to educate business leaders on the ways in which their organisations might rise to the challenge in a society that’s now facing up tp ever-changing crime trends.
Tuesday 31 March is the date for this year’s event, which takes place at New Century Hall, Corporation Street. Opening the day will be chief constable Peter Fahy.
This time around, Manchester Security 2009 plays host to a seminar programme including speakers from the Counter-Terrorism Unit and the Economic Crime Section at Greater Manchester Police. There’s also a presentation from the Manchester Business Continuity Forum.
The opening of the event will also see the presentation of the Greater Manchester Police Business Watch Co-ordinator of the Year Award.
Protecting premises, staff and customers
Offering his views on the annual gathering, John Bates – chief executive of the British Security Industry Association – explained: “This event is an ideal opportunity for Manchester businesses to find out about the latest security, business continuity and counter-terrorism issues. There’s a free exhibition, and visitors will be able to view the latest security products and services.”
Bates concluded: “This is an event not to be missed by those Manchester businesses wishing to find out more about protecting their premises, staff and customers.”
Speaking on behalf of the Greater Manchester Police, Stuart Pizzey MBE added: “In a landscape of changing crime trends, security is of paramount importance. This event will offer business leaders who attend the very latest advice from a range of policing and security professionals that can only help them better prepare for – and take appropriate steps to prevent – crime and criminality in its many forms.”
Manchester Security 2009 is sponsored by G4S Security Services (UK) and organised in partnership with the Greater Manchester Police, the Manchester City Centre Crime Prevention Panel, the British Security Industry Association and Manchester City Council.
Doors open at 9.00 am. Entry is free of charge.
