Indoor laser sensor avoids false alarms

The LMS 120 has “high accuracy sensing with minimal error”, says the company.

Sick’s laser sensor systems product specialist, Tim Stokes, said “The LMS120 is designed specifically for security applications, with high accuracy field definition. This enables very specific areas to be targeted, which can avoid false alarms from routine activities such as cleaning. It is very compact and light for unobtrusive mounting where required and is IP65 rated for long, reliable indoor life.”

Double pulse evaluation technology eliminates distracting beam reflections such as dust in the air or on the sensor surface.

It is suitable for short to medium range (up to 20 metres) applications and has wide 270 deg detection fields.

Said to be competitively priced and easy to set up on site with up to ten defined fields, it can even be installed behind glass.

Hertfordshire-based Sick is a leading producer of sensors for industrial applications and is a market leader in process automation.
