Gunnebo India to be global sourcing hub
Security products company, Gunnebo India, plans to increase its production capacity at its Halol factory in Gujarat. The company will invest nearly Rs. 30 crore this year and add two new dedicated production lines.
Som Gangopadhyay, senior VP, bank security and secure storage, Gunnebo India, said, “We have three existing lines and plan to add two more. Besides catering to the domestic market, our Halol plant will be a global sourcing hub as India has become the fourth largest revenue contributor to our parent, up from No. 11 in 2008.”
“Gunnebo as a security company exists in most of the security domains in the world and has been involved with security business since last 250 years. We invest a lot in researching various markets to understand security which help our customers to get most updated technology,” he added.
The factory is situated over 50,700 sq m with a built-up area of close to 9,730 sq m. “Over 2,060 sq m of built-up space will be added to the existing facility over the next one year, Ganopadhyay added.
Gunnebo India focus their expertise on five application business areas. These are bank, retail, site protection, secure storage and fire products. In addition, each customer centre offers dedicated services.
The Halol plant manufactures safes, fire-resistant cabinets, strong-room doors, safe deposit lockers and safe-cum-deposit lockers. The production capacity is about 15,000 units a year – for safe and locks, respectively.
The company’s other plant at Ambattur in Chennai, manufactures fire extinguishers under the Minimax brand. The factory has a capacity of about 75,000 units a year.
The security and storage products market in India is worth Rs 1,700 crore. Gunnebo and Godrej dominate the segment.
