Elmdene launches switch mode power supply units for CCTV sector
The units, which make up part of its Vision Range, were premiered at IFSEC 2011 in May.
Dubbed the VRS12-6000 and the VRS12-3500 EB models, the switch mode options have been designed to deliver regulated 12v dc outputs with a universal mains supply voltage of 100v to 253v.
In addition to the new 12v units installers can also select from a wide range of 24v models for CCTV-specific applications, the company said.
Ian Moore, managing director at Elmdene International Limited, said: “We are pleased to be able to announce the expansion of the switch mode power units in our Vision Range, underlining as it does Elmdene’s strong commitment to green power technology.
“There is certainly a growing awareness of the economic benefits which customers can realise from adopting switch mode units to power their CCTV devices, as well as helping to meet their corporate environmental obligations.
“The advantages of switch mode technology are certainly brought into sharp relief when the typical efficiency of linear power supplies, at 50-55%, is contrasted with that of the latest models which can reach between 80-87%. This is a dramatic difference. In addition, as units build up less heat during operation they can potentially deliver heightened reliability, have a longer life in the field and are less likely to interfere with other devices.”
