Sec Tech UK joins SIA standards committee

Sec Tech UK was set up by former police firearms expert Andy Redhead five years ago, offering a range of services including surveillance, security chauffeuring, event security, corporate and fraud investigations, threat and risk assessment and asset protection, along with specialising in close protection.

“We are delighted to have been invited to join the Strategy and Standards Group to advise on close protection matters,” Redhead said.

“Close protection isn’t as routine or as predictable as other licensable activities and brings with its own set of challenges. Standards have risen dramatically since the inception of the SIA, however there is still room for improvement and we are delighted to be able to share our expertise in support of the SIA and the security industry.”

The Group was set up in 2008 as an industry-wide forum to discuss how and when ACS standards should be raised with the aim of ensuring that it was active within the industry.

Close protection representation
SIA quality assurance manager Jody Parker said she was pleased that Sec Tech UK had agreed to join the group.

“We are delighted to welcome Sec Tech UK onto the ACS Strategy and Standards group,” she said.

“We recognised that the close protection sector was somewhat underrepresented and approached Sec Tech following the excellent response to a series of presentations they made at a recent round of ACS forums, which convinced us they could be a constructive and credible voice for their sector.

“We look forward to welcoming Sec Tech at our next meeting in September.”

Sec Tech UK was recently assessed for its close protection accreditation for the fourth year and has once again increased its score.

“We feel ACS accreditation is important to reassure a client that they are dealing with a professional company which conducts itself properly,” said Sec Tech UK’s commercial director Bob Morrison.

“We see it as a great complement to have been invited by the SIA to join the ACS Strategy and Standards group because it gives further recognition that the service we offer is of the highest standard.”
