Songs about security: She Came in Through the Bathroom Window
We all know that the finest in security devices are rendered useless if you don’t secure your home or business properly.
And so did Lennon and McCartney when they wrote this song. The summer of love may have been heady indeed, but The Beatles knew that with the 1970s just around the corner, there were certain to be unscrupulous chracters on the look out for an open window. This is why this song was included in the closing medley of The Beatles’ 1969 album Abbey Road. Fans had to be made aware of the importance of security.
Or at least, this is how we imagine the discussions went in the studio. Whoever the girl was that came in through the window, she was protected by a silver spoon, which forces our protagonist into quitting his job at the police department and getting a steady job. A sorry tale, indeed.
Enjoy!
