Eduard J Emde CPP has advanced to the presidency of ASIS International, the largest organisation for security management professionals worldwide.
Emde is principal consultant for BMKISS Europe, an independent security support organisation based in the Netherlands, and becomes the first non-US practitioner to serve as president of ASIS. Emde joined the organisation in 1990 as a student.
“The intrinsic value of ASIS is the composition of the membership body,” stated Emde. “Over the course of its long and rich history, ASIS has established itself as the leading forum for security practitioners to expand and deepen their understanding of security Best Practice through peer-to-peer education and networking. My primary objective as president is to grow membership globally, while also continuing to broaden and enrich the overall membership experience for all members.”
Security and security risk management
Emde has more than 20 years’ experience in security and security risk management. Previously, he served as manager of consultancy services for Interseco in The Hague, Netherlands, and as head of safety and security at the European Space Agency’s European Space Research and Technology Centre.
He has also served as a security consultant with KPMG’s Forensic and Integrity Services operation and as vice president of group security with the ABN AMRO Bank.
On top of that, Emde has served on the Boards of Directors of various associations in the field of risk management and security, including the Dutch Society for Risk Management and OSAC Netherlands.
A Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 1998, Emde previously served as regional vice-president in Europe and as a Board member and chair of the Benelux Chapter. Emde has also been a trainer for CPP review courses.
He gained a Master’s degree in Organisational Analysis and Behaviour from Lancaster University in the UK and degrees in Business Administration and Dutch Law from Erasmus University, Rotterdam.
Emde currently holds both the CPP and CISSP certifications and is a resident of Wassenaar in the Netherlands.
