Songs About Security: Camera

info4security covers rather a lot of CCTV-based stories. There’s dozens of CCTV videos in our video section, countless CCTV product news pieces in our products section and plenty of other stories across the site dating all the way back to the year 2000.

It’s fair to say that suppliers and distributors love to send us press releases about cameras, and a fair few of our end users, consultants, integrators and installers enjoy reading about them (although many more, of course, prefer listening to Songs About Security!)

So, in a simple and literal ode to the ever-present and never-complaining work that CCTV cameras carry out every day across the UK and the world, we bring you the Editors’ tune Camera, taken from their debut album back in the halcyon days of summer 2005.

Lead singer Tom Smith conspires to elude his pursuers, singing: “Look at us through the lens of a camera… If we run, they’ll look us in the back room.”

Clearly, back then the widespread proliferation of IP CCTV was not in full swing: the band managed to ‘get away’, going on to release two more albums that would top the charts in the following years.

They’re now working on their fourth opus, and are still considered fugitives. Maybe…
