State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Access deal struck with copper and gold mine

The Oyu Tolgoi site – around 550km south of Ulaanbaatar – is said to contain around 81 billion pounds of copper and 46 million ounces of gold.

The installation includes AC2000 API (Application Programming Interface), which allows customers to interface with 3rd party systems of their choice.

CEM’s AC2000 Failover was used to create a secondary server which can take over from the main server in the event of system failure. The switch between the two servers is automatic and results in zero data loss, says CEM, with notification of the event being sent to system users and administrators immediately.

The mine will be one of the first to use CEM’s new AC2000 WEB Visitors application, where users can log in remotely via a web page to manage visitors – without the need for client access control software on their PC.

Hardware installed includes the S3030 Portable reader which is used to provide access control where no mains power is available. The reader is capable of displaying cardholder images which allows for biometric verification.

“With the wide range of requirements and difficult environment, the Oyu Tolgoi copper and gold mine provides a good example of how the AC2000 SE system, together with CEM hardware, can meet and exceed the access control needs of even the most complex site,” said Andrew Fulton, senior director of global sales at CEM Systems.
