I4S video: IFSEC Centre Stage 2012 – Patrick Dealtry (The Lone Working Group and the BSIA)

Patrick Dealtry is chairman of the British Security Industry Association’s Lone Worker Group and a specialist in the field of solutions for organisations across both the private and public sectors who are keen to exercise Duty of Care and protect the more vulnerable members of the workforce.

Dealtry is renowned as the key driver behind BS 8484 in relation to lone working and is a huge supporter of this year’s inaugural Lone Worker Protection Product Area at IFSEC International, which is sponsored by Connexion2.

On top of that, on Day Three of the show – Wednesday 16 May – between 1.00 pm-2.00 pm, Dealtry will debate the premiss put forward by THIRDMARGIN’s CEO Malcolm Cheshire that lone worker protection is a paradox.

Cheshire’s assertion is that lone worker protection is indeed a paradox. His contention is that ‘device-based’ protection does not offer protection, and that the only effective form of protection is traditional close protection.

The paradox arises because, with such close protection in place, the worker is no longer alone. Malcolm’s argument – to be disputed by Patrick Dealtry – will be based on research as well as his own experiences as a lone worker while serving as an NHS community nurse.

In our exclusive pre-event video (below), Patrick Dealtry outlines what shape the debate with Cheshire will take and also puts forward his opinions on what he believes to be the altrustic benefits to be derived from driving the lone worker sector forward.
