I4S video: IFSEC Centre Stage 2012 – Gordon Tyerman (CCTV Training)
It has been a busy few days in the CCTV arena. For starters, the Protection of Freedoms Bill has passed into law and, as a result, there’s going to be a new Code of Practice – the Surveillance Camera Code.
What does it all mean? Why is this new Code necessary, and how does it differ from documentation that’s already being used by CCTV specialists across the UK?
This is but one of the essential topics to be addressed by surveillance expert Gordon Tyerman – the managing director of CCTV Training – when he takes to the IFSEC International Centre Stage area for a 30-minute speech at conference.
IFSEC International Centre Stage, located in Hall 5, is a brand new educational feature for the show. This free-to-attend education theatre on the show floor sees leading associations and industry figures come together from Monday 14 May through until Thursday 17 May to discuss some of the wider issues affecting the industry and offer thought-provoking debates.
CPD points are available for all attendees to each session.
CCTV standards, operators and management
For his part, Tyerman – a leading protagonist behind the newly-launched National CCTV Standards Forum, of course – will largely be focusing on standards, operators and management of CCTV set-ups.
- On the systems side of the equation, is there a level playing field at present for the end user of CCTV equipment?
- What are the anomalies still at play for operators of surveillance regimes when it comes to regulation and training?
- Leading on from that, why is it so important that a recognised career structure is put in place for CCTV operators?
- Is the role of the CCTV manager perhaps underplayed at present?
- Exactly how is that new Surveillance Camera Code likely to impact the security sector?
In our exclusive pre-IFSEC International 2012 interview, Gordon answers all of these questions in depth.
Watch the video (below) and make sure you’re at the NEC to witness Gordon’s presentation in full.
