RingTrack have launched a new device to track and recover stolen vehicles and machinery at IFSEC International.
The recover-e was designed with machinery and plant equipment in mind but enquiries have already been received from vending machine and clothes bank suppliers as well.
The size of a matchbox, the recover-e differs from GPS tracking devices by using SIM card technology which means it does not require direct line of sight to the sky to position it for recovery.
The recover-e is also completely self-contained with its own power source and internal aerials, and only wakes up to signal its position at a pre-sent period. This makes it harder for thieves to detect.
According to RingTrack the device is easy to transfer between assets, works indoors and out, and uses a sleep mode which means the battery can last up to four years.
It uses a built-in high-power homing beacon with internal antenna, and offers three axis movement detection. RingTrack claim they have achieved a 85% success rate in recovering stolen equipment using similar technology over the past ten years.
Ashley Coles, co-creator of recover-e said, “We designed it to overcome potential problems that emerged in previous devices RingTrack distributed. It’s proving to have a far wider potential market than we imagined.”
The recover-e was part funded by DEFRA and the European Commission.
