Cost isn’t the only factor to consider when sourcing a security supplier, and experts from the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) will be on hand at this year’s new security event – London’s Global Security Summit – to offer an insight into what to look for in a potential security provider.
Brought to you by UBM Live – the organiser of IFSEC International – and ProActiv (publisher of RISK UK), Global Security Summit London is designed to showcase the best that the security and risk management sector has to offer.
Taking place on 10-11 October at London’s Olympia, the event brings together key influencers and stakeholders to discuss, debate and network in a business environment.
Expert advice on hand
An integral part of the event is the Advice Centre, where four leading security and fire organisations are joining together to provide you with expert advice on a number of topics.
Representatives from the BSIA will be on hand on both days of the exhibition, and security procurement is one of the areas on which the Trade Association will be offering its Best Practice advice and guidance.
“Often, those responsible for security procurement within their organisation have little to no experience of security, and limited knowledge of the wide range of products and services that are available,” said James Kelly,CEO of the BSIA.
“Avoiding common pitfalls at the all-important specification stage can help companies choose an effective, professionally tailored solution rather than a ‘sticking plaster’ approach which addresses some security issues but is simply not fit for purpose and still leaves sites vulnerable to criminal attack.”
Asking the right questions
As far as Kelly’s concerned, asking the right questions at the outset can protect businesses from rogue security suppliers.
“The Global Security Summit provides a welcome opportunity for end users to engage with security providers,” said the BSIA’s leader, “and to obtain trustworthy advice from reputable industry bodies before committing themselves to a contract.”
Global Security Summit’s Advice Centre will help end users learn about the pitfalls of selecting a provider on the basis of cost alone, and also to find out about the very basic requirements that you should be looking for in a tender.
There will be a small number of walk-in slots offered on the day, but it’s also possible to register in advance for a 20-minute advice session with representatives from the BSIA. Book your appointment now!
