Mike Cahalane receives 2012 Peter Greenwood Award

The award – which is sponsored by the Fire and Security Association (FSA) and bestowed by The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals – was presented to Mike Cahalane by the current Master of The Worshipful Company, Gerald Moor and Una Riley, Past Master and guardian of the award, at the FSA’s Annual Luncheon held earlier this week at The Drapers Hall in the City of London.

The Peter Greenwood Award is the longest established individual award in the security profession and has been in existence since Peter’s untimely death in January 1995.

In his position as chairman of the Security Industry Lead Body (SILB) Implementation Group, Peter Greenwood worked tirelessly to enhance the cohesion and professionalism of the security industry as it was then.

Mike Cahalane is a founding member of the Association of Security Consultants and a stalwart figure in both the security consultancy field and the security systems industry.

Stefan Hay, head of the FSA, said: “Mike is a genuine industry professional of outstanding pedigree and has been a true friend to both our industry and many of his peers present in this room today.”

The FSA’s Annual Luncheon was attended by the great and good of the building services engineering and fire, security and risk management industries, among them SIA chairman Baroness Ruth Henig of Lancaster, Sir Ian Johnston (the director of security and resilience at LOCOG), ECA president Paul McNaughton and The Security Institute’s general manager Di Thomas. Also present was the NSI’s CEO Jeff Little.
