SSAIB unveils innovative new website
The Security Systems and Alarms Inspection Board (SSAIB) provides certification services for companies in the UK and Ireland involved in electronic security, security guarding, fire protection, intruder, telecare and other alarm systems.
The organisation’s all-new website includes user-friendly online booking and payment options, an updated news service and easy-to-access services for registered firms covering (for example) inspection histories and standards. There’s also an online shop.
A mobile version of the SSAIB.org website for use on smartphones is also available, along with a registered firms portal – accessible via the main site.
In addition, the latest SSAIB services are being updated via the Facebook and Twitter social media streams.
All of these moves are part of the SSAIB’s concerted effort to improve communications with its registered firms, potential customers and other interested parties.
The SSAIB’s marketing manager Andrew Brown explained: “We’ve recognised the need to keep pace with both communications and technological requirements. SSAIB.org now provides a more comprehensive service to our certificated companies, as well as an easier-to-use resource for first-time visitors interested in services including fire, security and social alarm systems.”
A comprehensive overview of the wide-ranging certification schemes offered by SSAIB is now provided online, together with quality management systems information and a range of other helpful background details relating to both domestic and commercial/industrial sites.
The SSAIB’s popular Directory, which has previously been available in printed format only, is now available on the new website. This offers specifiers and end users instant access to details of SSAIB-registered companies. It also enables company details to be updated more regularly than was the case with the printed version, thus ensuring information is always fully up-to-date.
Registered firms exclusive
An exclusive site area has been developed specifically for SSAIB registered firms, with benefits including a user ID/password-protected Certificates Direct section offering a choice of certificate design and the ability to upload company logos to Certificates of Conformance.
Certificates Direct will also hold fire certificates online for issue to all BAFE SP203 registered firms.
The registered firms portal also includes a useful section containing standards, with a search facility for easy reference. E-commerce facilities are also being rolled out, providing a range of online payment facilities (eg for purchasing Certificates of Conformance).
Online booking arrangements are available for SSAIB regional meetings and seminars that are only open to registered firms. The portal also includes news items of particular interest to registered firms.
Download facilities have been improved through the portal, with improved layout for the SSAIB Registered Marks that registered firms are allowed to use as part of their registration.
Firms can also change web and e-mail addresses and telephone/fax numbers online, as well as check their previous and current inspection dates. In addition, they may upload any non-compliance evidence online.
In addition to its product schemes, the SSAIB offers a range of management systems certification schemes including ISO 9001 quality management systems certification and ISO 14001 environmental management systems certification.
Over 1,400 companies are now listed on the SSAIB’s register.
