The world of video surveillance is always turning, with an estimate 25 million cameras in use around the world. For years now we’ve been following some of the more unusual and interesting events caught on camera, not to mention some of the funnier ones.
Now it’s time to formalise this by putting these under the banner you can see above: World of CCTV. We’ll be keeping our eyes out online and trying to find compelling, interesting, alarming, or just downright funny images caught on some of the world’s video surveillance cameras.
Our debut in this regular feature is a video that’s been all over the world’s media this week.
A security camera across the road from Congonhas Airport near Sao Paolo, Brazil, caught the moment a private jet overshot the runway and bounced into a wall separating the airport from the motorway.
Fortunately, none of the passengers on board were injured although the pilot was said to have suffered some injuries. Understandable when you see the force with which the Cessna aircraft landed.
