Technical officer to the UK Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP), Ron Smith, has recently retired after 15 years of dedicated service to the construction and passive fire protection industry. To mark the occasion, Ron was presented with a flight in a Tiger Moth biplane at the Association’s recent AGM.
Ron has been the driving force behind many editions of the publication ‘Fire protection for structural steel in buildings’ (also known as the Yellow Book). He has chaired BSI and third party certification scheme committees on fire protection, and has been an active member of many European fire committees. Bill Parlor has been appointed as Ron’s successor.
