Munich’s underground rail system is installing safety cabling from Datwyler Cables on extensions to line 3 and line 6 on its network. The halogen-free cables are designed to carry on functioning for at least 30 minutes in a fire.
The cabling is used to power emergency lighting and lifts, and to carry emergency power. The product allows up to 1.2 m lengths between mounting clamps. Stretches of cabling underneath stations are equipped with the company’s Hermann cable supports.
Installation company Elektro Peter is responsible for fitting the cable. Emergency power will be provided with 6cm thick Datwyler Pyrofil Keram, which has to be laid at a height of approximately five metres. The functional content of the total length of the cable must comply with the DIN 4102-12 requirement of at least 30 minutes functioning of all electrical plant.
Some 100 kilometres of cable have so far been laid in the north of Munich.
