In recognition of the company’s outstanding support given to fire crews at the Buncefield oil terminal fire just over a year ago, Angus Fire was awarded a special achievement award at the Fire Awards – held alongside Fire 2006 in November.
Chief fire officer of Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue, Roy Wilsher, presented the award and said: “The successful and relatively early resolution of this incident was due to a number of factors including the support of many fire services, oil industry firefighters and companies such as Angus Fire. The assistance given by Angus in terms of advice and bulk foam concentrate was invaluable, and I am pleased to make my appreciation public.”
Hertfordshire F&RS first contacted Angus Fire at 7.05am on Sunday 11 December 2005, shortly after the initial explosion. Within hours, urgently needed foam concentrate supplies were on the road to Buncefield. Over subsequent days an unprecedented 600,000 litres were supplied, mostly Angus FP70.
