OmniCare all-in-one emergency voice system

[

Baldwin Boxall Communications has launched its latest emergency voice communication development – VIGIL OmniCare. This system allows users to have disabled refuge remotes, fire telephone remotes and disabled toilet alarms all on the same system

Prior to this product Baldwin Boxall says that three separate systems would have been necessary.

The system is claimed to have many added benefits, including the following:

– Addressable – Baldwin Boxall engineers have developed software that enables commissioning engineers to simply address each remote unit, which means that the master control unit can be divided into disabled refuge, fire telephones and disabled toilet alarms. This allows the calls to be answered in a quick and efficient manner.

– Call an external number if no reply – if there is no reply from the master unit, for any reason, the unit can automatically dial three additional numbers to ensure the call is answered promptly (option).

– Fault reporting – by simply adding a logging device, it is possible to download the fault and event history of the system.

– Voice steering – the system utilises voice steering techniques during communication with a disabled refuge area.

The system works in the same way as Baldwin Boxall’s Care products. Remote units are wired in a loop configuration and it is possible to have a number of disabled refuge remotes, fire telephones or toilet alarms all on the same loop. By wiring in a loop configuration, installation costs are reduced compared to star wired systems due to reduced cabling lengths.

Also in the range, Baldwin Boxall has developed a combined disabled refuge and fire telephone remote which has been designed to ensure that OmniCare meets all Emergency Voice Communication requirements. Like all of Baldwin Boxall’s Care products, the system is compliant with BS 5839 part 9 and BS 8300:2001 (toilet alarm).
