A National Risk Register which highlights the likelihood and potential impact of risks to the UK as a whole, has been published by the government.
According to the Cabinet Office, the Register is designed to increase awareness of the kinds of risks the UK faces and to encourage individuals and organisations to think about their own preparedness. It also includes details of what the government and emergency services are doing to prepare for emergencies.
Although fire is not treated as one of the major risk topics, it is included in a section on major industrial accidents. Other risks addressed include:
Major transport accidents
Attacks on critical infrastructure
Animal disease
Flooding
Non-conventional attacks
Severe weather
Attacks on crowded places
Attacks on transport
Electronic attacks
The publication of the Register follows the National Security Strategy published earlier this year. To obtain a copy, click on the link below.
