St. Pancras Grand Brasserie 
Keble College, OxfordA system that enables end users to safely and legally hold doors open has been installed in two prestigious locations, and received a facelift in recent weeks.
Oxford University’s Keble College, and the St Pancras Grand Brasserie – located alongside the Eurostar terminal – are two of the latest locations to benefit from Fireco’s Dorgard, a system that is designed to automatically release a door when a fire alarm sounds.
The wireless unit listens out for a continuous fire alarm of 65 decibels or higher, and according to the manufacturer can be installed in under 5 minutes.
The range has recently received a facelift and is now available in a wider range of finishes including Mahogany, Beech, Oak and Ash.
At the Grand Brasserie this enables waiting staff to move quickly between the restaurant and the kitchens without compromising on the effective protection that a fire door brings.
Keble College particularly benefitted from the increased accessibility that holding doors open allows, which is in line with the aim of the Equality Act 2010 to improve access throughout buildings.
The units are also set to automatically release the door at night time, mitigating the risk of forgetful staff leaving fire doors open after hours.
