Chinese restaurant forced to shut after fire

A Chinese restaurant has been forced to temporarily close after fire broke out on the premises.

Firefighters were called to the Royal China, in Westminster, London on 16 January at around 10.45am. Smoke was seen coming from the multi-storey building. Four fire engines and around 20 firefighters attended the scene. The blaze was under control at around 11.45am.

The restaurant’s external ducting, which runs from the ground floor to the sixth floor level, was damaged by the blaze. There were no reports of injuries.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation.

The fire came just weeks after the restaurant re-opened after being renovated.
