CCTVs to check black marketing of Railway tickets

To control black marketing of tickets, Indian Railways have given instructions for periodic monitoring of the footage of CCTVs (Closed Circuit Televisions) installed at the PRS (Passenger Reservation System) centers. The commercial inspectors have been told to keep a watch on the unscrupulous elements and take necessary action to check black marketing of tickets so that genuine passengers do not face problems. 

The above order has been given in view of the suggestion given by Central Vigilance Commission to the Indian Railways that efforts should be made for periodic monitoring of CCTVs installed at the PRS centers (especially during the peak hours). Further, these cameras should be used as a preventive vigilance tool. 

In this connection, director, passenger marketing in the Railway Board, Vikram Singh wrote letters to all the chief commercial managers of zonal railways including North Central Railways to take steps in this direction. The letter states that it is desired that wherever CCTV has been installed commercial inspectors should be deputed to monitor the footage of CCTVs on a periodical basis and during peak hours. This monitoring should be done on a daily basis. These inspectors will submit their report to a nominated officer and will also bring abnormalities to the notice of senior officers for taking necessary remedial measures.
