Hikvision extends PoE range for several IP cameras to 250 metres
Hikvision has extended the Power over Ethernet (PoE) range for several of its IP cameras to 250 metres.
The surveillance giant says the move is driven by the fact that many IP systems are designed with cameras and NVRs more than 100 metres apart. This means PoE can only be used through the addition of switches and repeaters that increase the overall cost of the installation.
Hikvision says the PoE range extension will provide a more cost-effective solution for larger installations, and simplify system design and the installation process.
“With over 4000 R&D employees Hikvision is constantly looking at innovative ways to improve our solutions for professional security installers, system integrators and their end-users,” says Pom Chen, Technical Manager for Hikvision UK & Ireland. The introduction of 250-metre Power over Ethernet is just one of many steps we are taking in 2017.”
