Uptick has acquired fellow fire protection software servicing provider FireMate.
Both companies are based in Australia, with FireMate previously part of the Halma Group of companies.
The acquisition aims to “combine both businesses’ strengths and cement a base to accelerate Uptick’s global ambitions”.
Founded in 2014, FireMate’s desktop solution is designed to support professionals in the fire protection industry by digitising field technicans’ day-to-day procedures and automate processes for service managers and business owners.
FireMate’s portfolio previously included remote fire alarm management solution, Nimbus. However, it was announced in late July that the product was rebranding as a standalone entity, to Nimbus Digital Solutions Ltd – trading name, ‘Nimbus’.
Uptick, also based in Australia, launched its UK arm in early 2022, where it says it has seen “significant traction”, with its customers maintaining around 80,000 buildings.
The company says it is looking forward to further UK expansion, as it looks to enhance its software capabilities to incorporate all BAFE, NSI and SSAIB certificates and requirements.
“Enhancing customer experience”
“We are extremely proud to join forces with Firemate and take on the world together,” said Aidan Lister, CEO of Uptick.
“Firemate has built a loyal following of top tier fire protection companies, we now have an incredible opportunity to grow the entire industry and service our mission to make 100 million people safer where they live, work and play.”
“We are excited by the prospect of bringing Firemate’s industry and product knowledge together with Uptick’s cloud capabilities to enhance the experience for our combined customer base and take on the global market” added Rob Thomas, Founder of Firemate.
Uptick says it will be working to take the best parts of the FireMate platform and replicate its features into Uptick to improve its offering to existing and future customers.
Kyle Jones, UK Senior Business Development Manager for Uptick, added: “We’re hopeful that this increase in market share allows us to grow the entire industry – using data to advocate for better adherence to compliance standards at a state and national level – and working with government and insurers to create economic incentives for building owners and managers to take compliance more seriously through visibility and transparency.
“We especially look forward to advancing next generation technologies like digital service records (UptickID and bSECURE), digital logbooks, and building compliance passports.”
The acquisition was supported by technology-focused investment firm Accel-KKR.
