TAG Aviation has now completed the first phase of work to turn Farnborough into Europe’s premier business airport, including the construction of extensive hangar space, a futuristic Control Tower (pictured) and improvements to the runways.
The GB pound 300,000 upgrade contract has also included the integration of a number of leading edge security solutions, including IndigoVision’s IP-based digital CCTV, Janus networked access control and an Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system from CitySync.
TAG Aviation’s requirements were for a security system that could be easily expanded in the future without the need for additional cabling across a large airport. During the major construction phase, Intruder installed a fibre optic backbone that connects all the key facilities (including the aforementioned hangars and Control Tower, as well as the passenger terminal building and the security Control Room at the main entrance). This provided the basis for a TCP/IP networked access control/CCTV set-up.
The Janus access system controls entry and exit at 125 points, covering all the individual tenant areas in the hangar space and in the main Control Tower.
Meantime, passenger arrival and departure zones are monitored by IndigoVision’s VideoBridge IP networked CCTV system, so too the main aircraft ramps, taxi ways and the main runway. The majority of cameras are high speed PTZ domes which can be monitored from any pc on the network. Images may be viewed at a full 25 frames per second and stored for 31 days.
CitySync’s Jetbase ANPR system has been installed on the main entrance to record vehicles driving on and off site. All plates are recorded on to a standard pc, with image database management tools available for interrogation.
