Nedap completes airport access control project

The Aeos proximity reader system now controls access to 60 shops and 150 organisations with 37,500 different RFID cards.

Nedap claims it was chosen for the contract because its Aeos system is based on behaviour components that enhance and support the airport’s security procedures.

Aeos is designed to simultaneously handle multiple reader and credential technologies in a single system, and four different identification technologies are used at the same time for the application in Geneva. Nedap, Mifare, Legic and Magnetic stripe technologies are all used, each serving a different purpose.

In an attempt to increase convenience for users, Nedap developed a ‘Combi Card’, which integrates all four technologies. With the Combi Card staff at the airport carry just one card, instead of four.

Nedap’s certified business partner in Switzerland, Tyco Fire and Integrated Solutions, helped with the installation.
