Pelco sells Intelli-M access control business to Infinias

The deal – which will include intellectual property, assets and products in development related to the Intelli-M systems line – is set to conclude on our around 16 March.

A newly-formed and independent company, Infinias will focus on the development, growth and support of the Intelli-M business while maintaining integration with Pelco video security products.

Support from infinias for Pelco customers

Until the transition is complete, Pelco dealer and distributor customers will continue to purchase products and obtain support for warranty and repairs direct from Pelco. At the close of the sale, Infinias takes over all sales and support (including warranty support for Intelli-M products previously sold by Pelco). Pelco customers can expect the same level of support from Infinias as they have been receiving to date.

Commenting on the deal, Dean Meyer – president and CEO at Pelco – told SMT Online: “We decided that the best way to serve our customers is to stay focused on our core video products. That’s why we are spinning off the access control business unit to Infinias who, as the current development team, are best suited to maintain and expand the Intelli-M access control business. We will work with infinias to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible.”

Wayne Jared – Pelco’s vice-president of electronic access control engineering – will lead Infinias as its president and CEO as soon as the transaction is complete. Other key members of the Pelco access control team based in Indianapolis, Indiana will also join the new company.

“Like Pelco, Infinias is committed to its customers and to providing continued support for today’s Intelli-M products,” said Jared. “We will also develop new simple, scaleable and secure products to meet the future needs of the electronic access control market.”

Current Intelli-M product line

The Intelli-M product line currently consists of the eIDC (an Ethernet-enabled integrated door controller which is one of the first POE door controllers introduced to the security market) and Supervisor Plus, a scalable security management software system that integrates access control, intrusion detection, photo badging and digital video in one.
