Generali Asigurari’s 19-storey building in the heart of the Romanian capital was also kitted out with video surveillance technology and Sintony, Siemens’ intruder detection system.
The video surveillance setup uses Siemens cameras (including fixed domes) and DVRs from the company’s Sistore range. Public areas, stairwells and lift access points are covered by the cameras, while 360 degree motion detectors watch over lift halls and the building’s entrance points.
At the main entrances, three turnstiles are linked to a SiPass access control system. This connects with 78 interior doors throughout the building, controlling access for some 1,500 people. In the event of a fire, every door in the building will open automatically and operators will be given manual control of the lifts.
Siemens’ Synova fire detection system provides coverage throughout the 18,000 sq m building, with deception-immune thermo sensors set up to react to “slow or fast” changes in temperature. Siemens said the system’s optical smoke detectors offer a wide response range and “exceptional immunity” to dust and dirt. Synova also features individual controls for the fire dampers, lifts, windows and ventilation system.
Generali Asigurari, which employs around 66,000 people, said it was pleased with how quickly the new system was installed.
