Hybrid recording

JVC says its hybrid network video recorder is “for installers seeking an alternative”. The VR-N900U can record images from both analogue and IP cameras. Its single box design is said to provide simple configuration and management of all sized surveillance systems using conventional front panel controls, or with an optional keypad and mouse.

For large scale IP-based systems it can be connected via network servers and it also operates as a stand-alone unit without the need for a PC and “fits easily within an existing network infrastructure.

It has automatic IP camera detection and an easy to use interface which includes a jog/shuttle dial.

NVR surveillance kit

QNAP Systems has launched the NVR-1012 an “instant surveillance system” said to provide professional grade video recording and real time remote monitoring and playback.

All configuration and recording/monitoring is carried out through Internet Explorer with “no complicated software installation”.

It supports MPEG-4 and MJPEG recording of up to four channels simultaneously. The server supports up to 1TB internal SATA hard drive.

It features two-way audio, recordings with time stamp, night view, up to 30 fps per channel, 3GPP streaming.

400fps real time recording

GENIE CCTV Ltd has launched two high performance pentaplex DVRs.

The LE3108D (8 channel) and LE3116D (16 channel) DVRs have simultaneous live / recording / playback / network / backup.

The LG-branded DVRs boast 400FPS real time recording, a pentaplex feature which supports simultaneous operation of live monitoring, playback, recording, networking and archiving.

The DVR uses MPEG4 compression and supports 3TB internal storage on SATA hard drives.

Features are an integral multi-format DVD Re-writer, network compatibility, 4x USB ports, 4x audio channels, motion detection, multi-site remote client software, IR remote and mouse. It can be programmed for continuous, alarm or motion recording.

System enhancer

The Sistore range of DVRs from Siemens Building Technologies will benefit from a new partnership with Texas Instruments, says the company.

Four new versions of the Sistore MX hybrid recorders were launched at IFSEC 2008 and three new versions of Sistore CX intelligent digital video codecs.

This third generation Sistore has Da Vinci digital signal processors from Texas Instruments.

It is said to “significantly enhance” the performance of the system including increased recording and transmission frame rates.

It also allows more powerful analytics than the already released outdoor object tracking and detection sensor in the Sistore CX EDS or object detection and removal sensor in the CX ODR.

Easy access to evidence

The Divar MR from Bosch Security Systems is new generation CCTV management technology that combines the “highest quality digital video recording” with the ability to control cameras, handle alarms and monitor device status through a common interface.

Using MPEG-4 compression, the Divar MR gives simultaneous real-time recording on up to 16 channels.

With simultaneous live viewing and playback, there is also a “smart search” feature that helps users find recorded images quickly by looking for changes in a selected area.

Features include overwrite protection and export to CD, DVD or USB. An archve player is included in the external media and includes an “image authentication” feature for those required as evidence in court.

Hybrid DVR and NVR

The third generation of DVRs from Hikvision is a hybrid integration of DVR and NVR.

The DS-9000 Series uses H.264, MPEG-4, Motion JPEG, AVS and has high performance digital signalling.

Said to feature a friendly GUI and vivid imaging, the series is suitable for banks, museums, airports, city public safety, army, telecom, transportation, factory and irrigation.

It supports 16 channels synchronous playback.

For large scale systems

Panasonic’s latest network hard disk recorder is designed specifically to meet the needs of megapixel camera recording where high data throughput and large storage capacity is required.

The WJ-ND400 allows 64 network cameras to be connected and their images and audio recorded simultaneously.

Equipped with 500GB HDD and eight additional HDD slots, it allows up to 4.5TB of HDD storage to be installed in the main unit. Further expansion of up to 27 TB can be achieved by adding five optional hard disk expansion units, each with 9 serial ATA HDD slots, making it “ideal” for large scale surveillance systems.

It is both MPEG-4 and JPEG compatible and has versatile recording including manual, scheduled, emergency, event and external timer recording.

More days of storage

Pelco’s new DVR5100 is said to combine “cutting edge performance and exceptional image quality with intuitive, easy operation”.

With the ability to record up to 30/25 ips at 4CIF resolution on each channel, it “shatters previous performance barriers for DVRs in its class”.

It has 1TB of internal storage and is Endura enabled, allowing it to operate as a stand-alone or part of an Endura system.

Using EnduraStor technology, video recorded at higher frame rates can automatically be reduced to 2 ips after a pre-determined time, effectively giving users more days of storage.

The front panel includes a joystick, jog and shuttle integrated with a colour-coded icon-based interface.

Vehicle monitoring opens up

The RX504 mobile DVR transmitter has been developed by TeleEye specifically for use in transport applications.

Images are compressed using TeleEye’s SMAC-M technology and then transmitted to a monitoring station using GPRS phone networks, enabling operators to make an immediate response to the visual information.

TeleEye has formed a partnership with Wireless Logic to provide low cost tariffs on O2, Vodafone and Orange networks.

The company says that the price reduction achieved has made remote monitoring “viable in many more mobile transport applications than previously anticipated”.

JVC’s latest 16-channel network video recorder is a high performance machine that can be used in medium to large scale surveillance systems.

Milestone’s XProtect Enterprise software and all camera licenses are pre-installed and the NVR is ready to use straight out the box.

The VR-N1600E has easy to use DVR style front panel and jog shuttle controls familiar to security operators.

It supports up to 16 cameras including two LAN connections; has a 500 GB hard drive as standard with additional expansion slots; high capacity recording of up to 5TB (optional) or NAS; motion detection and alarm handling; Motion JPEG/MPEG-4 camera recording plus mega pixel.

NVR suits small shops

The NVR4000 from Plustek Inc is a network video recorder said to be “an ideal solution for monitoring small shops, petrol stations, business hotels and small offices”.

It connects to a network (IP or LAN), provides M-JPEG recordings and has a 320GB hard disc that lets users store about 14 days with VGA resolution at 1fps from four video channels.

Said to be straightforward to install and use, it has simultaneous recording and remote access to live views and playback of recorded images from up to four Plustek network cameras.

Image and voice

Adpro FT-R is a digital video and audio recorder for installations requiring high quality CCTV image and voice recording and retrieval.

The company says the FT-R, part of its FastTrace technology series, is suited to all manner of security or surveillance applications, and can be used to monitor live interaction at a remote site or review events that have occurred via the recorded video and audio.

It integrates with Adpro Video Central Gold and Video Central Lite, which Adpro says will lead to increased operator efficiency through managing both surveillance and security applications through a single interface.

Leo solely for IP

Dallmeier’s DMS ‘Leonardo’ range of DVRs has been enhanced with the launch of the DMS 240 IPS, the company’s first network video recorder solely designed for IP applications.

The DMS 240 IPS is a standalone recorder offering up to 24 IP-based audio and video channels. Central to the design of the product is high quality recording combined with “exceptional” compression rates.

The unit offers a Bit rate up to 4Mbps, a frame rate up to 25fps per channel with CIF (600fps altogether), and image resolution of up to 4CIF.

Simultaneous real-time recording and playback is standard, as is Dallmeier’s Easy-Change HDD functionality in the unlikely event of a hard disk failure.

Analogue and IP

Vista’s new Blade range of “truly hybrid DVRs” offers high resolution images and “excellent performance” for systems incorporating both analogue and IP cameras.

Each camera input has a dedicated codec to allow cameras to be fine tuned to suit any requirement. Any camera can be set to any compression level, in any quality, at any image rate per second.

The use of macros allows the user to program the DVR to any form of configuration.

Blade DVRs are true hybrids, incorporating network inputs for direct connection to IP cameras with a maximum of 20 inputs – 16 analogue and four IP. Live and recorded video can be viewed over a network using MPEG-4, with control of multiple DVRs from multiple locations.

All the DVRs in the range are capable of recording a full 25ips for each camera. Up to four internal drives allow 160GB to 3TB of internal storage.

Lilin has launched a range of four, eight and 16 channel digital video recorders, the PDR-6000 Series.

With MPEG4 compression drive space is maximised by reducing video to small file sizes. This results in longer recording times and high speed image transmission over networks.

The PDR-6000 Series utilises Seagate SV35 SATA hard drives with a maximum capacity of up to 2TB internally or 8TB in the optional external RAID drive. Users can expect to achieve 42 days per TB in “normal” settings at 100fps.

Designed for ease of use, the graphic interface aims to enable simple configuration and operation via the mouse, front panel, IR remote or keyboard. An internal DVD+RW and USB port enables fast and simple back up. Users can operate and manage the system from any remote location using a simple web browser interface without the need to install any software.
