A director of a fire equipment manufacturing company is riding from Solihull to Paris in a bid to raise money for a cancer charity.
For Ges Wallace, director of STI Europe, it is a very personal challenge, as the Marie Curie hospice in Solihull cared for his late wife before she died from cancer.
Ges, who together with his team mates have named their team Un Pour la Route, are aiming to raise at least £16,000 when they take up the 290 mile challenge over four days in September.
“The existing Marie Curie Hospice where my late wife Chris was cared for, has provided expert care and support to thousands of terminally ill patients and their families living in Solihull and the surrounding area,” said Mr Wallace.
“But the size and age of the current building, which is over 100 years old, is restricting the charity’s ability to develop and expand its services to reach more patients.”
“Whilst the hospice is an amazing place, staffed by wonderful and caring individuals, the building itself is tired and extremely inefficient and the need for the new facility is very evident.”
